Beyond the mountains of the western Himalayas, Sonam, an elderly nomad, lives with his tribe in one of the most inclement and isolated regions of the planet. A sudden change in the local climate leads most of the rivers to dry up and transforms many of the valleys into desert. Unable to survive according to the traditional way of life and witnessing the suffering of his people, Sonam begins a desperate attempt to change their future. A story of faith and sacrifice, recounting the suffering of a people which is the victim of changes in both the climate and society.
Directors
André Rangel
André Rangel deals with video editing for the Brazilian film industry, commercials and TV series and works for institutions including the Pró-Natura Institute, the Vale do Rio Doce Foundation, the Roberto Marinho Foundation and Petrobrás. In 2005 he met Marco Negrão and joined Enigma Filmes. Together they directed the documentaries "Vultures have Wings" and "The Broken Moon".
Marcos Negrão
In 2003 he founded Enigma Filmes, a studio specialising in documentaries and TV series. The objective was to create a language of film, drawing the public closer to social and environmental themes. He has worked as a director, producer and cameraman for various films and TV series. "The Broken Moon" is his first full-length film.
