For the first time, the documentary series “Dolomiti: montagne, uomini, storie” presents and recounts the Dolomites collectively, as a unified resource, even if they are made up of nine mountain ranges situated in five different provinces. Some time ago, a travelling exhibition at the ethnographic museum in Cortina displayed more than a hundred paintings by artists choosing the Dolomites as their source of inspiration from the end of the 19th century. This episode of Piero Badaloni’s coverage, made with the collaboration of Fausta Slanzi and photographed by Nicola Berti for the Fondazione Dolomiti Unesco, begins with these paintings, dedicated to every nuance of the Dolomites. The third episode is dedicated to artists in every field – from painting and sculpture to music and literature, film and photography and even comics – who have been inspired by the sublime appeal of these mountains.
