Situated a few kilometres from the frontier with Syria, the region of Al Shambouk is a mountainous district inhabited by different religious groups: Maronite Christians, Shia and Sunni Muslims. The civil war raging in Lebanon from 1975 to 1990 formalised the divisions between the inhabitants of the area, who now struggle even to remember the collaboration in the past. Here the elderly Haykal has constructed a farm and restaurant and begun to construct a house, with the intention of leaving it to his four children, who left years ago together with his wife. However the solitude in which Heykal lives is nevertheless charged with determination and a force that leaves its mark on everything he does. The director Eliane Raheb has chosen to abandon the neutrality of the documentary to interact directly with the different figures.
