Soon after the tragic death of his wife and youngest daughter, Sir Edmund Hillary, deeply depressed, embarks on a healing journey: an epic expedition along the entire length of India's holy river Ganges. Just as India begins to weave its healing magic, Hillary's own life becomes in peril. A totally new version of From the Ocean to the Sky, Gold Gentian in Trento in 1980, the film is an intimate personal portrait of Hillary, and it includes for the first time a moving account of his rescue from near death.
He has been making Adventure films for 50 years. For half that period he was Sir Edmund Hillary's filmmaker, making many films including From the Ocean to Sky, Gold Gentian Trento 1980 and the National Geographic Special Return to Everest. He filmed the first ever full climb of Everest from sea level: Everest Sea to Summit, Gold Gentian in Trento in 1993.
