While looking through his telescope, John Putnam sees what at first appears to be a meteor shower, but it is actually a crash-landing alien spaceship! After investigating the crater from the impact, John informs the town sheriff, and receives nothing but ridicule. All that changes when the townsfolk start disappearing, and are replaced by eerie alien duplicates. A 50s sci-fi cult classic, the movie is set in the imaginary town of Sand Rock, Arizona, but was actually filmed on location in California and the Mojave Desert.

Director

Jack Arnold

Former stage and movie actor, Arnold began making low-budget features in the early 50s. He concocted some of that era's classic science fiction-horror films, notably the pioneering 3-D efforts IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE (1952) and THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON (1954) as well as THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN (1957).
