Durante il severo inverno la montagna offre il suo aspetto più cupo con le forti nevicate, la velocità delle raffiche del vento e le basse temperature, rendendo difficile la vita nel regno dell'aquila. Questo maestoso predatore volteggia spesso per settimane a stomaco vuoto sopra le vette alla ricerca di occasionali prede che sono talvolta vittime di cadute e di valanghe. Al regista Michael Schlamberger è riuscito di ritrarre i drammi classici dell'alta montagna come le lotte dell'aquila con i corvi per una preda e le battaglie tra i maschi degli stambecchi, un misto di violenza ed eleganza. Vi sono però animali come le pernici bianche ed altri uccelli che sopravvivono all'invern nutrendosi di semi. La migliore scelta sembra siano le marmotte a farla trascorrendo mesi in letargo sottoterra per emergere in primavera e recuperare il loro peso corporeo durante la breve estate. E' un po' anche il caso dell'aquila che deve compensare il digiuno forzato dei mesi invernali.

Michael has been the Director of Photography as well as the Producer and Director
for many international award winning blue-chip natural history documentaries, as well
as producing AV and multi-screen shows for a variety of venues, including Museums
and National Parks Centres.
Michael is a qualified open water diver, and since 2006 holds a pilot’s license. In
2008 Michael was awarded Austrian Television’s ROMY award in the category of
best cinematography for ORF UNIVERSUM’s documentary “Ol’ Man River – The
Mighty Mississippi”.
Michael has developed a unique style, both with his cinematography and his
productions, a style which is now recognized as having the quality seal of a
ScienceVision production.
