IL Sahara, il più grande deserto tropicale del mondo è chiamato dai beduini “ Bar Bela Mar” cioè mare senz’acqua che le onde e le traditrici dune formate dalla sabbia rendono appena navigabile. Ma nel profondo della terra sotto le dune e le pietre giace una incommensurabile provvista d’acqua, un gigantesco sistema di serbatoi che racchiude falde acquifere di oltre tremila anni d’età. Questo tesoro rifornisce le oasi ed i pozzi artresiani alcuni dei quali p.e. Gadames consentono insediamenti stabili da oltre dieci secoli. Molte oasi tuttavia compaiono e spariscono senza spiegazione sul motivo della loro scomparsa. Secondo i rivoluzionari programmi del presidente Geddafi l’acqua fossile del mare sotterraneo dovrebbe essere portata in ,superficie da un sistema in tubature di cemento di grande portata per arrivare fino alle coste del Mediterraneo dopo 5000 Km di percorso. Non si sa però se questo cantiere, che ha finora disperso nella sabbia 64 miliardi di dollari, potrà infine funzionare e se le riserve sotterranee potranno alimentare per lungo tempo un gettito di 70000 litri al secondo. Michael Schlamberger, austiaco, realizzatore di diverse pregevoli opere su vari aspetti della natura, si trova con la sua squadra ad esplorare un mondo assolutamente arido al quale non è abituato ma che qui gli ha però riservato diverse sorprese.

Michael has been the Director of Photography as well as the Producer and Director
for many international award winning blue-chip natural history documentaries, as well
as producing AV and multi-screen shows for a variety of venues, including Museums
and National Parks Centres.
Michael is a qualified open water diver, and since 2006 holds a pilot’s license. In
2008 Michael was awarded Austrian Television’s ROMY award in the category of
best cinematography for ORF UNIVERSUM’s documentary “Ol’ Man River – The
Mighty Mississippi”.
Michael has developed a unique style, both with his cinematography and his
productions, a style which is now recognized as having the quality seal of a
ScienceVision production.
