SCENOGRAPHY AND MOUNTAIN ENVIRONMENTS: WHEN FILM ENCOUNTERS NATURE 

With Massimiliano Nocente, scenographer of the film “Le otto montagne”

Massimiliano Nocente, a scenographer with an impressive career: forty films, thirty-seven theatre performances, twenty-eight commercials, three music videos and creator of artistic works as a painter and designer.

After obtaining a diploma from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia with top marks, Nocente made his debut in film very early with directors such as Lina Wertmuller and Ferzan Ozpetek (“La finestra di fronte”, “Cuore sacro”, “Saturno contro”), receiving mentions and awards. He recently worked on the film “Le otto montagne”, by F. van Groeningen and C. Vandermeersch, taken from the book of the same name by Paolo Cognetti, winner of the 2017 Strega Prize. The film “Le otto montagne” won the jury prize at Cannes Film Festival in 2022 and the David di Donatello for Best Film in 2023.

Massimiliano Nocente will talk about his artistic life and his career. He will recount his “relationship” with the world of the mountains during the preparation and filming of the film “Le otto montagne” thanks to which he was nominated as best scenographer for the 2023 Donatello Prize.
